BJP ST Morcha 2-day National working committee meet begins

NEW DELHI: The two-day national working committee meeting of ST Morcha of the BJP began on Saturday in Ranchi at Birsa Munda Auditorium where the union tribal welfare minister Arjun Munda said that it was the BJP which took care of the interest of tribal society of India.

Speaking as a chief guest Munda said that even decades after the independence of India tribal society remained vulnerable in terms of the economic and political empowerment of this society.

“But the BJP always cared and fought for tribals. In the Narendra Modi government eight members from the tribal community were inducted in the union ministry. The union government has taken initiatives of Eklavya Vidyalaya to enrich the people to provide better education to children of tribal society,” said Munda.

Munda said that apart from increasing participation of tribal communities in the ministry, many other steps were taken. He said that the Congress that ruled India for many decades fooled tribals.

Talking about the objectives of the Eklavya School he said that local children of tribal society will get standard quality education facilities.

But he lamented that opposition ruled states like Jharkhand, Bengal and others are creating hurdles for the execution of this scheme meant for the betterment of children of tribal society.

He alleged opposition for politics in the matter of Eklavya schools adding land allotment for schools were politicized.

“The Jharkhand government is also not interested in the upliftment of the tribal society. And this is the reason that till now the government has not shown interest in centrally sponsored schemes which are meant for the upliftment of tribal society,” Munda said.

Munda urged the ST wing to apprise the people about efforts made by the Modi government. “BJP ST Morcha has to play an active role in the development of the tribal society,” he said.

In the inaugural session, National President of ST Morcha Samir Oraon, national in-charge Dilip Saikia, Faggan Singh Kulaste, Renu Singh, Ram Singh Rathwa, Bharti Pawar along with eight former union ministers, former CM and national vice-president Raghuvar Das, former CM Babulal Marandi, State Party President Deepak Prakash, 20 MPs associated with tribal society besides 200 office bearers were also present.
